The name of Future can be in the mouth of many men and women, but the rapper barely speaks, unless it is with a few words via Instagram Stories. The rapper recently interviewed XXL where he was the most vulnerable he had ever been.
This is due to part of the discussion where the late rapper Juice WRLD is mentioned. The 20-year-old overdosed four months ago at a Chicago airport after taking several pills to hide from federal agents.
Juice cited that Future was the one who made him try drugs in the first place when he was listening to his music growing up. The singer of Mask Off was one of his favorites and the two even collaborated on a full album called WRLD on Drugs.
Artist Lucid Dreams lamented that he is constantly struggling with addiction and often talks about trying to get sober. He didn’t want his fans to follow the same path as him.
While speaking to the magazine, Future admitted: “ It was heartbreaking for Juice. Even today, my heart is broken. Rest in peace at Juice Wrld. He is a great artist. He had so much more to do.
He also directly addressed his feelings of being a bad influence. Future Gets Emotional Over The Death Of Juice WRLD — Never Wanted To Influence Him To Use Drugs.
“Having an influence on this, I just have the impression that … that is not my intention. My intention was just to be me. I’m just me and what you take away is what you take away, but at the same time I don’t want anyone going through anything to hurt themselves or to die and Juice Wrld is a situation delicate. I’m sorry for all this. My heart goes to his family, his mom.
The hip-hop / rap industry takes a lot of heat to glamorize addiction, but there is definitely some injustice around the conversation. The saying goes “Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll” because the rockstar lifestyle has always been about drug and alcohol use.
