Many sources have informed that UFC 253 will feature the light unification bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.
UFC 253 is slated for September 19, but its location is yet to be revealed. Bearing in mind that this should be one of the biggest fights in previous years, we can expect this information to be available soon.
Dana White announced last month that he and his organization were trying to book the fight between the two belt holders, and he said he was targeting September for this show. At this point, they have not finalized the agreement, but now the situation is different. Khabib vs. Gaethje to Highlight UFC 253
We must emphasize that there has been no official confirmation from either side. However, if that turns out to be true, we will witness a fight for the unified lightweight champion.
Khabib is the current champion, with his record of 28 wins without a single loss. His last victory came last September at UFC 242 against Dustin Poirier. The Russian Eagle was supposed to face Tony Ferguson at UFC 249, but the chaos caused by the COVID-19 pandemics forced him to give up and skip the fight.
Gaethje has 22 triumphs and two losses. He replaced Nurmagomedov at UFC 249 and completely demolished Ferguson. A few expected to see his victory, but many thought that the way he handled El Cucuy was quite impressive. Ferguson probably suffered, the biggest blow of his professional career, and his streak of 12 consecutive victories was stopped.
